【FULL】Site Visit to Trunk Road T2 and Cha Kwo Ling Tunnel

9 May 2026

The innovations implemented in T2 to enhance safety

The Trunk Road T2, under Contract ED/2018/04, is a pivotal component of Route 6, strategically designed as a key east-west link across Kowloon. It includes the construction of a dual two-lane trunk road approximately 3.0 kilometers long, of which about 2.7 kilometers will be developed as a subsea tunnel using 2 TBMs- Victoria and Rhea. Additionally, the project will incorporate ventilation buildings and installation works at the administration building, along with a comprehensive traffic control and surveillance system. It will also encompass associated civil, electrical, and mechanical works, in addition to landscaping, environmental protection, and mitigation efforts.

More than the Smart Site Safety System (4S), which integrates advanced technologies including AI Lift & Smart Hook, T2 also works hard on innovative methods to enhance safety.

  1. Drilling Robot with travelator

which is capable of automated precision positioning and drilling, significantly enhancing construction efficiency. More importantly, mechanized operations relieve workers from performing highly repetitive tasks for prolonged periods, thereby reducing physical strain and substantially improving occupational safety and health.

  1. LG tag for ICM

The system provides comprehensive tracing of all certifications and inspections, including timestamps, personnel details, and locations. It maintains detailed records of all events in chronological order for easy reference. Real-time monitoring covers all LALGs, including crane trucks from transportation companies and relevant parties. The platform also enables lifecycle analysis of LALGs to track their usage and condition over time. Authentication verifies certificates rather than simply uploading documents, ensuring data integrity. By minimizing manpower needed for monitoring, documentation handling, and communication, it saves significant time. Finally, its coverage extends across the entire Hong Kong construction industry and other sectors.Agenda:
