The HKICM Accreditation is an official confirmation that a course or programme contains the required learning outcomes to meet our membership admission criteria and the standards set out in our education framework. Professional accreditation is undertaken to ensure that the standard and quality of courses or programmes is high and meets the needs of professional construction practitioners, their employers and Hong Kong society in general.
The HKICM accredits courses or programmes covering a wide range of construction-related disciplines, including the field of architecture, civil and structural engineering, building and quantity surveying, building engineering and studies, mechanical, electrical and building services engineering, construction and project management, plant and facilities management. The accredited courses or programmes include foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate or diploma in construction-related discipline which match HKICM’s educational requirements for admission into respective class of membership.
Accreditation by HKICM signifies that the teaching institute reaches the highest standards of governance, quality assurance and resource management while the accredited courses or programmes are assured to match the required academic and vocational standards.
The accreditation process, whether for an initial accreditation or re-accreditation, involves a comprehensive assessment which comprises the following:
(i) a review of information submitted by the educational institution;
(ii) an on-site accreditation visit, if deems necessary, by the Assessment Team appointed by Accreditation Panel;
(iii) preparation and submission of the accreditation report based on review of the information submitted, and findings and recommendations by the Assessment Team to the Accreditation Panel; and
(iv) decision on accreditation by the Accreditation Panel.
Any educational institution desirous to seek accreditation of its course(s) or programme(s) by the Institute shall submit a completed application form (please refers to the《Registration Form for Programme Accreditation》below) accompanied with the supporting documentation and forwarded by post to:

(IV) Others
Apart from the above, the Institute may accept alternative qualifications in the appropriate fields which will be:
i) considered base on an individual assessment according to the relevance of the curriculum in relation to each
category of disciplines; or
ii) justified by relevant public organizations for academic accreditation or professional institutes as equivalent
level to that required. Such organizations and institutes include the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of
Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), HKIA, HKIE and HKIS.
