【FULL】Site Visit to Development of the Loop

Project Overview

  • Site formation (about 80 hectares), including the construction of associated retaining walls and slope works;
  • Construction of about 3,000m long carriageway and associated footpaths and cycle tracks, and a public transport interchange within the Loop;
  • Construction of about 1,300m long Western Connection Road, through widening of existing Ha Wan Tsuen East Road and a section of existing Lok Ma Chau Road and construction of associated footpaths and cycle tracks, and about 60m long viaduct over the old Shenzhen River meander;
  • Construction of a Direct Road Link connecting MTR Lok Ma Chau Station to Ha Wan Tsuen East Road, including a viaduct of about 720m long, a double-deck footbridge of about 90 m long, an elevated public transport interchange, and the associated modification works for connecting to MTR Lok Ma Chau Station;
  • Construction of slip roads connecting Lok Ma Chau Road and Fanling Highway / San Tin Highway and a cycle track cum footbridge of about 300m long connecting Lok Ma Chau Road and Castle Peak Road – Chau Tau, and implementation of associated junction/road improvement works;
  • Provision of other infrastructures, including a tertiary sewage treatment works and sewerage system, a fresh water service reservoir and water supply system, drainage system, and other associated works;
  • Construction of about 4 hectares riverside promenade and about 3 hectares open space (reedbed), and landscaping works.

Site Visit Agenda

  • CLC Touring (G/F):
    Introduction to the project background and development, presentation of the ecological area, and display of a physical model demonstrating the innovative bridge construction method.
  • Innohub Touring (1/F):
    Overview of 4S Adoption, visit to the Central Management Control Room, and demonstration of CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) navigation for completed bridges.
  • Project BIM Adoption Forum:
    Sharing of practical experiences in BIM implementation, focusing on two innovative bridge construction methodologies supported by 3D surveying technologies:

    • Full-span bridge deck erection method across Fanling Highway and Castle Peak Road
    • Special lifting frame method adjacent to the MTR Lok Ma Chau Spurline and across San Sham Road
