The Government commissioned in early 2018 a consultancy study to take forward pilot projects of automated parking systems (APSs) and subsequently identified a number of short-term tenancy (STT) car parks and public works projects (PWPs) for taking forward APS projects (selected projects), and it expected that such projects could be completed by 2026.
The Government has indicated that it will examine the feasibility of adopting APSs when inviting tenders for new STT car parks and conducting re-tendering exercises for existing STT car parks, and will consider adopting APSs in more PWPs; and will continue to take forward APS projects to consolidate its experiences in building, operating and managing different APS types and the associated financial arrangements. This will pave the way for wider APS applications in public car parks in the future. (HKSARG Press Releases)
Furthermore, the vision of the Hong Kong Smart City is to embrace innovation and technology to build a world-famed Smart Hong Kong.
Automated car parking systems and material handling systems align with Hong Kong’s goal of promoting smart city initiatives and encouraging the adoption of APS.
The speaker will introduce the principles of the pallet-less automated car parking system, CUBILE (VLHS – Vertical Lifting Horizontal Sliding system), the puzzle parking system, RESPACE (VLHS or Tower Lifting or Puzzle Stacking system) and material handling system, and share experiences related to design, construction/installation, interface, safety and maintenance of the automated car parking (Appendix A) and associated material handling system (Appendix B).
