The highly transmissible Omicron variant of COVID-19 broke out in early 2022 with an exponential caseload, peaking at over 50 thousand in a single day, which directly led to a serious shortage of isolation facilities in Hong Kong.
With the full support of the Central Government, the HKSAR Government initiated the construction of 8 community isolation and treatment facilities, including 6 temporary CIFs and 2 CTFs built with MiC. 8 projects were constructed simultaneously, with a very large scale and extremely tight construction period, facing unprecedented challenges in terms of organization, resources, and technology.
In this talk, the speaker will mainly share how to successively deliver more than 40,000 isolation beds within a limited 4-month through innovative management concepts and technologies, achieving this impossible feat, and how to convey humanistic care through architecture.
