8 August 2025

HKICM organised the CPD Talk “StructAIzation: Redefining Hong Kong Engineering” and held successfully on 8 August 2025.

Mr. Gabriel YU (Director of Engineering, BIM Manager, Prudential Surveyors International Ltd) and Mr. Jack TO (Head of BIM, CAD Advanced Rating Pilot, Prudential Surveyors International Ltd) shared with the participants the professional knowledge and experience including AI-Powered BIM: Automate structural defect detection and integrate inspection data into digital models for precise analysis. Drone Technology: Utilize drones for high-resolution aerial inspections, accessing hard-to-reach areas safely and efficiently. China’s Technological Innovations: Adopt advanced tools like AI-driven analytics and smart sensors, inspired by China’s leadership in construction technology. Cost-Efficient for Contractors: Cut expenses by minimizing scaffold usage and reducing the need for full-time on-site engineers through AI-driven remote inspections. Professional Oversight: Supervised and planned to ensure quality and compliance. Youth Collaboration: Engage with Hong Kong’s VTC students, who are co-developing innovative inspection workflows, bringing fresh ideas to the industry, followed by a Q&A session.

The CPD was highly informative and meaningful with exchange and interaction among the speaker and the participants.

Special thanks to IVE student Mr. Tiger CHAN’s sharing and his Lecturer (Department of Construction of IVE) Mr. Benson HUNG’s in-person support, and Cr Betty LO (Chairperson of HKICM CPD Committee) for her great efforts in organising and joining this CPD event.
