Site Visit to Hospital Authority Supporting Services Centre (HASSC), Tung Chung

20 July 2024

The site visit to the HASSC project, led by Cr Betty LO, Cr Phyllis CHEN, and Cr Amy SIU, was successfully conducted on July 20, 2024. This was the last external visit before the project is handed over to the Hospital Authority.

The visit began with a presentation on the construction challenges encountered during the superstructure phase, then toured the site to see the special building services facilities, such as the Steam Boiler Room, Central Production Unit, and Data Centre, which were designed to increase system resilience and provide extra redundancy to meet the critical user requirements. The design has incorporated smart and innovative technologies to strive for carbon neutrality and building sustainability.

The HKICM team expressed their sincere gratitude to Dragages Hong Kong and the HASSC project team for their warm hospitality and insightful sharing. The project team was described as young and energetic, and the HKICM team especially appreciated the key presenters, Ginny TAI and Kathy CHENG, for their excellent coordination and arrangements.

Overall, the site visit was fruitful, with many takeaways. There was a great exchange between the speakers and participants, providing valuable learning opportunities. The HKICM looks forward to the completion of this important healthcare supporting facility that will serve the North Lantau Hospital and other public hospitals in Hong Kong.
