The SHE Committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers (HKICM), together with the HKIE Building Division (BUD), organized a site visit to the Dedicated Rehousing Estate at Ma Tau Kok on 25 July 2026.
During the visit, the project team shared how new technologies and practical site management measures are being used to improve efficiency, safety and the working environment. One of the highlights was the MiC site office. The Housing Society team explained the thinking behind its design and how off-site fabrication can be applied not only to permanent works, but also to temporary site facilities.
Hip Hing also introduced several smart construction applications adopted on the project, including the 4S management system with a centralized platform for real-time site monitoring. The remote-control tower crane system was another interesting example, showing how technology can help improve safety, accuracy and daily site operations.
The visit was a good opportunity for members to learn more about smart construction, digitalisation and modern methods of construction through direct sharing and on-site observation. It also helped participants better understand how these initiatives can support productivity, safety and sustainability in real project conditions.
We would like to thank the Hong Kong Housing Society and Hip Hing Engineering Co., Ltd. for arranging this meaningful visit. Their warm hospitality and detailed sharing made the visit both useful and enjoyable.
Overall, it was an informative and engaging visit, and we look forward to more similar opportunities for professional exchange in the future.
