The site visit to the Cyberport Expansion Project, led by Cr Phyllis CHEN, Cr Amy SIU, and Cr Betty LO, was successfully conducted on 16 November 2024. The team expressed gratitude to Gammon Construction Limited and the project team, including Cr Sherman TANG, Cr Photo CHENG, and Ir Terence TSE, for their excellent arrangements.
The visit began with a presentation outlining the project’s challenges and innovative solutions, followed by a well-organized site walk. A key highlight was the use of modular integrated construction (MiC) techniques for tall, slender modules exceeding 6 meters in height, efficiently leveraging a nearby pier for delivery by a 650t mobile crane. The project also utilized high-strength steel S690, marking it as the first BD-approved private project to use this material.
Furthermore, the project has integrated smart and digital solutions, achieving the 4S Smart Site Safety System labelling and BIM implementation, which enhance safety and operational efficiency. This commitment to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and Construction 2.0 showcases the project’s dedication to advanced construction techniques and allows participants to understand the role and professionalism of a construction manager in a complex project.
