HKICM organised site visit to CLP Power’s Black Point Power Station (BPPS), which was held successfully on 15 March 2025.
Mr Martin CHAN (Manager – Operational Safety of Generation of CLP Power) introduced the audience to CLP Power’s generation businesses, the safety system adopted in CLP Power for work and project management during planning, execution and monitoring. He highlighted how the system helps identify risks and hazards at work and ensures the implementation of effective control measures to secure the safety of all working parties. The application of the Permit to Work system in the power stations, as well as the training and authorisation of personnel for operational duties, were also discussed.
After the presentation, participants were guided on a tour of the BPPS Gallery, which introduced the Combine Cycle Gas Turbine technologies, the latest H-class gas-fired generation units D1 and D2, and the various fuel supply sources for BPPS. The tour was guided by Ir Kay LEUNG (Assistant Manager of CLP Power Academy), Ir WY SZE, Ir Edmond LEUNG and Ir WY LI. Participants enjoyed visiting the D1 Viewing Gallery and were delighted to see the actual Unit D1. The visit concluded with a bus tour around BPPS.
Chairperson of the HKICM CPD Committee Cr Betty LO, together with Vice Chair of the HKICM CPD Committee Cr Angel MAN and Vice Chair of the HKICM Young Members Committee Cr Mandy CHAN, jointly presented certificates of appreciation to CLP Power Academy for their excellent sharing and presentation.
