Site Visit to Central Kowloon Route (3 June 2023) jointly organised by HKICM and HKIS QSD
Central Kowloon Route (“CKR”) is a dual three-lane carriageway with a total length of 4.7km, linking Yau Ma Tei Interchange of West Kowloon with Kai Tak Development Area and road network of Kowloon Bay, forming a trunk road across central Kowloon. Upon commissioning, the journey time between Yau Ma Tei and Kowloon Bay during peak hours is expected to be shortened from 30 minutes to about 5 minutes only.
CKR is divided into 8 works contracts. Other than the first four works contracts adopting conventional Government conditions of contract (GCC), the remaining four works contracts (Kai Tak East, Central Tunnel, Buildings, Electrical and Mechanical Works and Remaining Works contracts adopt NEC ECC Option C.
In addition, to echo “Construction 2.0”, CKR as one of the pioneers in innovative technologies within construction industry, introduce and implement various innovative management system and construction methods to uplift the efficiency and sustainability of the industry, increase productivity, enhancing supervision and quality assurance, improve site safety and reduce environmental impacts.
