Mastering the keys to handling payment disputes under the SOPO framework

19 January 2026

HKICM organised the CPD Talk Mastering the keys to handling payment disputes under the SOPO framework and held successfully on 19 January 2026.

Mr. Leo Wong shared his professional expertise and practical experience regarding payment disputes under the SOPO framework. From the perspectives of employers, main contractors, and subcontractors, he explained the necessary actions for handling such disputes effectively.

The session covered the HKIAC SOPO Adjudication Rules, including the template Notice of Adjudication and the essential contents of adjudication papers (submissions, responses, and replies). Mr. Wong highlighted common pitfalls to avoid, the required supporting documentation, and grounds for challenging determinations. Finally, he provided guidance on logistical preparation, documentation management, and the necessity of engaging external consultants, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

The CPD was highly informative and meaningful with exchange and interaction among the speakers and the participants.

Special thanks to Cr Alfred TANG (President of HKICM), Cr Betty LO (Chairperson of HKICM CPD Committee) for the great efforts in organising and joining this CPD event.

Finally, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Mr. Leo WONG for the excellent sharing and presentation.
