Justin Lo, Partner of Cocking & Co LLP
Justin has over 14 years of experience advising on contentious and non-contentious matters in major infrastructure projects in Hong Kong, Asia Pacific, UAE and Latin America. He advises on the full life cycle of a construction project, including contract negotiations and management of claims and disputes. He regularly represented contractors, consultants and developers in complex construction disputes resolving by means of mediation, expert determination, arbitration and litigation for major infrastructure projects locally and internationally.

Vivian Wong, Counsel of Cocking & Co LLP
Vivian has over 10 years of experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters relating to construction and engineering in Hong Kong and overseas. She has worked with various clients including employers, contractors and consultants in disputes involving adjudication, mediation, litigation and arbitration. She also has wide experience in contract review and drafting.

Priscillia Lam, Senior Associate of Cocking & Co LLP
Priscillia practice focuses on mediation, arbitration and litigation and has experience resolving construction disputes relating to major infrastructures in Hong Kong and overseas. She has worked with various employers, contractors, engineers and architects in a number of high-profile construction and commercial projects.

Following the passage of the Bill at the Legislative Council on 18 December 2024, the Construction Industry Security of Payment Ordinance (Ordinance”) was gazetted on 27 December 2024. The majority of the provisions will come into operation 8 months later on 28 August 2025.

The Ordinance will bring a drastic change to the construction industry in Hong Kong, particularly concerning cashflow cycles and dispute resolution process under the contracts.

In this seminar, Justin Lo, Vivian Wong and Priscillia Lam analysed the major provisions of the Ordinance and provided practical tips on how to prepare for its arrival and implications, followed by a Q&A session.

Cr Betty Lo, Chairperson of HKICM CPD Committee, and Sr Eric Ting, Vice Chairman of the HKIS QSD, presented certificates of appreciation to Justin Lo, Vivian Wong and Priscillia Lam.
