How Data Technology Applies in Construction Industry

24 July 2026

HKICM was delighted to co-organise this successful CPD event with PolyU BREDAA, PolyU CMI, RICS, and HKIS (BSD). The event brought together students, young professionals, and experienced practitioners from across the construction industry, attracting nearly 100 in-person attendees and 700 online registrations.

Special thanks to our speakers Derrick Pang, Terence Lui, Xiangrui Kong and Moderator Ivy Lam for their insightful discussion on AI in construction industry, data technology and cybersecurity.

The session highlighted how AI is advancing much faster than expected and could significantly transform the construction industry within the next 3-5 years through enhanced efficiency, automation and better decision-making. At the same time, important concerns were raised regarding cybersecurity risks and the impact of AI on future careers.

A key takeaway was that while AI may replace many tasks, domain knowledge, professional judgement and industry expertise remain irreplaceable. Those who combine professional expertise with emerging technologies will be best positioned for future success.

HKICM thanks all speakers, partner organisations and participants for making this event a great success. We look forward to seeing you at our future CPD events.
