HKICM President Cr Daniel SHUM, together with Immediate Past President Cr CW TANG, Vice Presidents Cr Tony ZA & Cr Terence MANG and Chairman of PR & Liaison Committee Cr Johnason KO accompanied by Secretary General, Mr Rocky Chow, paid a courtesy visit to Construction Industry Council (CIC). The delegates were warmly greeted by the CIC Chairman Mr CHAN Ka Kui, SBS, JP and Senior Manager – Corporate Communications Ms Lotus CHOI at CIC Head Office in Kwun Tong, Kowloon on 17 July 2019 (Wednesday).
The meeting kicked off with a briefing by Ms Lotus CHOI on the current structure, development, works and upcoming events and programmes of CIC. In return, Cr Tony ZA briefly introduced and updated on the works, accomplishment, latest activities and development of HKICM, including establishment of the designation “Cr” (an abbreviation of and pronounced as “Construction Manager”) and implementation of our RCM (Registered Construction Manager) and RCS (Registered Construction Supervisor) registration schemes.
A number of issues on the current issues and development of the construction industry were then discussed and views exchanged, including professional qualification recognition of HKICM membership, the role and importance of front-line site management and supervisory personnel in the construction process, the status of mutual recognition of Registered Constructors in China with Construction Managers in Hong Kong, especially the pilot scheme to be implemented within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
At the end of the meeting, President SHUM assured the CIC Chairman on our support and willingness to participate in various technical committees and taskforces of CIC in regards to the promotion of professional excellence in construction management and enhancing the professionalism of construction personnel.
The visit ended with a group photo taken at the office lobby of the CIC Head Office in Kwun Tong, Kowloon.
